Me, me, me....

It's my birthday and so I am not apologising for shamelessly nicking this idea....

How many good songs are there that mention your name?  I loathed my name at school - there were four Janes in my class alone - but the upside is that I get some cracking tunes....

First up Sweet Jane - Lou Reed

Famous Blue Raincoat – Leonard Cohen (got to love Leonard, every which way).

Happy Birthday Jane – The Enemy (new to me, this one, but perfect for today)

The Diary of Jane – Breaking Benjamin (change of pace)

Hazey Jane I - Nick Drake (adore Nick Drake)

Lady Jane – The Rolling Stones (so so lovely)

Sooo.....did I miss any other great Jane songs?  What great songs mention your name?

There's Jennifer Juniper, Jennifer's Rabbit by Tom Paxton which I loved as a kid and still sing sometimes to my kids with their names in instead, Jennifer by the Eurythmics which I think was only an album song rather than a single, but I love nonetheless.

And then there's that Beautiful South song that goes Jennifer, Alison, Philippa, Sue...all about how easy it is to slot in any girl's name and say you wrote a song for them.

And a boyfriend was daft enough to give me it as a present... he didn't last long. Still, not as bad as the friend who was given I don't want a lover by Texas as a present by his girlfriend and didn't get the hint.

I'm pretty sure there aren't any songs with Mrs. Tuna in them.

Happy Birthday, Jane. Can't think of any more. And no songs mentioning Fennie. (If you find one let me know!)
But names can be a moveable feast. And you could always add on. Anastasia-Jane, for instance to claim you Russian ancestry?

Happy birthday, Jane!

Alas, not a lot of (any?) songs with Shayne in the title. However, Shayne is just another form of Jane, so perhaps I can share yours. :-)

Happy Birthday to a fellow Capricorn! Do throw off the "responsible"robe for a day and enjoy!

And, unfortunately, there aren't any songs to my name. Ah well.

Enjoy!

Nothing so lovely as your just things like "There's a hole in your bucket..." Used to loathe people who sang that to me, probably still do but I think I scare them into submission now before they open their mouths. Happy Birthday!!!

Happy birthday, Jane, from Bear and me. (He's hibernating, but I'm sure he'd send his best wishes were he awake.)

I'm not sure about Bear or Sadie songs, But I don't see that as important. There are lots of Jane songs for you; that's what is important!

Millions of songs with Jane in them. Check this Wiki page out - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane

I can remember a great American rock song from the late 70s/early 80's called Jane but I can't find it and can't remember the name. It sounded like Journey or something.

And I defy anyone to find a song with Antonia (my real name) in the title, never mind Toni. Pah!

Happy Birthday Jane

No songs with Lara in them, unless you count "Lara's Theme" from Dr Zchivago. a slightly depressing dirge!

Happy Birthday Jane!!!!

Don't forget there's a band called Jane's Addiction - so EVERYTHING by them applies ;-)

I think Jane is a lovely name. But perhaps that's because the Jane's I know are lovely people. And you're included in that batch :-D

Hope you had a lovely, lovely day.

Rod Stewart's Baby Jane??? Brings back 80s memories...Funny my middle name is Jane and I used to get everyone to call me Jane when I was little as I hated my first name...and couldn't say it properly for the first few years...my godfather called me Jane all of his life.

Hmm. Can't think of any Debbie inspired songs. T Rex had a 'Deborah' but I've only ever been called that when I'm naughty ;)

...and rock-a-bye sweet baby Jane. I think that's Leonard Cohen as well. No Rachel songs but plenty of Rakhel songs in Hebrew. Happy Birthday!
